Hello. I have a Toshiba laptop with XP. Somehow, WMP became inoperative. I reinstalled it but it always says that it is not installed properly and do I want to visit the website to reinstall it. I have tried this several times. It says the installation is successful, but always gives me that same error message. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Eric

I dont know if this will work but,
Have you tried installing WMP 10 and seeing if that runs ok?

What SP ver/WMP ver are you using/trying to use?
When exactly do you get the message & what exactly does it say?

and do I want to visit the website to reinstall it.
Why ? ?
What type of XP installation might this be ? ?

Hi. I believe I was trying to install the newest version of WMP. 11 I think. I also down loaded ver. 9 & 10 without success as well.
A window pops up. It says Windows Media Player in the blue bar at the top. The text reads "Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled. Do you want to install the player from the Microsoft website? Yes/no at the bottom. If I click yes, it tales me to the Microsoft website.
Does that help any?
Thanks, Eric

Yes, that's the way the installer works, just select yes & follow the instructions.

Tried that several times. After "successful" installation, the same message pops up and I'm back to square one.

Do you still have a version of WMP installed?
If you're not sure, check under 'add remove programs' & uninstall whatever WMP entries you find. If you're using a genuine version of Windows, you can reinstall WMP from Micro$oft website.
