As of today I'll no longer be restoring user accounts and/or their post counts for users who hastily delete their accounts. If you get upset and/or want to take a break instead of deleting the account simply don't use it.
Users who delete their accounts are more than welcome to return to the forum just don't expect any sympathy from me. :) Sorry, trying to save what little time I can and I think it's only fair and should help with users being rash about deleting their accounts knowing this.
-
just read your post , when i was finished with some of my posts i would delete it , ( only 1or2 ) so i must stop doing it , harry
-
The reason we leave them up is you never know who the same problem can be solved by reading previous ones....
But the Admin is talking about Member Accounts being deleted....at any rate leave your Posts up as you go.
-
deleting ones own posts/topics is selfish- deleting ones own account is kind of dumb. I've never deleted a forum account on any forum before, since I never know when I'll return, regardless of how I feel at any point.
-
Non sense Nathan Ill do all the Restoring for you ;D
-
You have to be here to do so...
-
are all the questions from say 1 year or longer still on , are they not taking a lot of storage /space call it what you will
-
Only the Forum Games board is cleaned up every so often, as far as I know. I think the others are left the way they are. :)
-
99% of all posts made are kept and planned on being kept forever. Even users who delete their accounts will have their posts remain on the forum. The other 1% of the posts are spam posts, game posts, duplicate posts, etc.
-
Basically, any post that adds meaningful content or provides context for future posts remains.

Exactly. Why would you delete your account? You never know if you might return.

It seems like it would just make more sense to remove the "delete" option from the profile options. Seeing as how a users posts are still visible and the users picture and account info are gone once the account had been deleted. This would save the administrator a lot of time and trouble with people who become upset and delete their accounts hastily. If a person goes for more than twenty months or so without posting, then the administrator should delete the profile.

Actually this would greatly increase my work load since users who want to delete their accounts and couldn't figure it out would be sending me requests to have their accounts deleted.

I thought I'd be gone much longer...and can understand where you're coming from, Nathan...no biggie.
Disregard my email... ;D

Oh, Welcome Back Saviour!
*looks like my spell worked!*
-
what a fabulously ghoulish name you've chosen. ;D

Thanks, Brian...

Hehe...
I was thinking of using "In nomine patri et fili spiritu sancte"...then thought...uh-oh, that'd piss a few people off.
Then again...isn't that what I'm famous for?
-
I'm impressed with your command of spelling Latin...i struggled with that language for 4 years in school.
But your missing an i...

"In nomine patri et fili spiritu sancte"
Holy Cow? (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/skotroll/smilies/holycowsmile.gif)
Just kidding. Welcome back!

On a lighter note...
Only 995 posts to go before I get another free beer!
I should've just kept my account instead of "copping an attitude", but this last time was to work on the site...and I thought I'd be gone for quite awhile. Looking back...I should've just kept the account current and came back when all was said and done.
Well...ya know what they say...
"Hindsight is 20/20"...in my case 60/40. If I had stayed originally...I think I might have amassed well over 3000 posts...but, hey...who's counting?
-
I have you at 3648...
-
Thanks for keeping count, patio...
I guess I coul've gone through all my deleted accounts, but hey...I can't even remember them.
Let's see...there was Saviour, The Saviour, Glitch, ExplodingHemmorhoids, I can't remember the rest... :o
-
Oh, that was you?
What a coincidence, I just viewed a year-old topic with a user by the names of Exploding_Hemmorhoids.
:D

A bit more than that... it's
"In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti"

I guess if you can't spell something, then you shouldn't spell it at all, huh?
There's one everywhere ya go...if not, they come looking for ya.

I was having a (gentle) go at Patio, not you, but now you mention it, there is no harm in checking things.

I guess there probably is one everywhere you go... :)

I actually copied it from somewhere else...don't remember where...
I wasn't about to attempt it myself...talk about spelling mistakes... ;)
