Title: "scsdevxx.exe - Application Error" pop-up on system starting
Post by: blackgold on August 24, 2009, 04:13:06 PM
I am using for last 3 years, P3 730MHz - 320 MB Ram - Win XP2 - IE6 - AVG Free 8.5

On finding some problems to load pages while surfing, I scanned my computer using
'AVG free 8.5', 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware', SUPERAntiSpywareFree, 'Spybot-Search & Destroy'
and HijackThis (log files attached).

I found some threats and removed all. Now I believe that there is no virus or trojen in my system.
I have run "sfc /scannow" using XP2 CD.

Now whenever I start my computer, after welcome message, the below given window appears.
(After this, it takes 2 minutes to appear the desktop. Until today, the pop-up window was
"svchost.exe - Application Error", which will appear while surfing and not at startup).

scsdevxx.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
      OK         Cancel

Somtimes I will click OK or cancel or place that bar near the clock.
Whatever may I do, after some time (15 or 20 minutes), my Internet (Broadband) is disconnected.

When I try to connect Internet again, the below given message is got:
"Error Connecting to Broadband
TCP/IT CP reported error 32: A device attached to the system is not functioning."

Now if a video from computer is played, there is no sound.
(Now CPU Usage shows 100% - System is very slow)

Then I have to restart my system to connect Internet. (Then again this problem)

Please suggest a solution for this problem.

(ComputerHope has helped me many times and I thankfully remember that).

Blackgold,

Did you run HJT after Malwarebytes and Superantispyware?

You still have some dangerous issues in the HJT log, so perhaps run the programs and post the logs for all three programs in the Virus and Spyware forum.....You can use the process tool to remove threats, but I think you may need evilfantasy for this one....you might want to disconnect that pc from the internet for the time being.

This should be moved to Virus and Spyware so evilfantasy sees it.....

Karnac,

Thanks for your suggestions.

I couldn't do any more scanning or move this post to virus section because
my CPU Usage was 100% and I couldn't do anything.
I tried it 3-4 times by restarting, but always my system was frozen.

Then I did a more easy thing.
I formatted C: and and reinstalled XP2.
Now all are OK and there should not be any viruses, I hope.

Re-installing took only 45 minutes and I strongly think that this is the MOST
EASY
way to remove VIRUS than fighting against it by spending 2-3 days.

(Now I have to spend hours to setup OE, MS Office & install the 15-20 software that lost. I had more than 6 GB in C:. My all GiveAwayOfTheDay.com software are gone for EVER).

Thanks again Karnac.

Your most welcome....Glad you're back in form....you had a real mess.

Fine....

See you again when my next problem arises!

One more thing...

My C: contains several startup programs like Nero, .Netframework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and
MS office programs
that I rarely use. They take the major part of my system memory.
I have several Startup software to disable them, but I don't know how to use them.
So I will get only 60 to 90 MB real memory when my computer is started.
(I tried MSCONFIG, but I feel it difficult to use).

Will you please suggest a good article to control these Startup programs and a good
Startup software?

Thanks again Karnac...

I shall try this and will surely PM you, if I have any more doubts about this pgm or Startup pgms.

I positively hope, you will not consider it as a nuisance!?

I thankfully remember that you have helped me in my thread http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,86072.msg575811.html when my system was affected by 'System Security 2009'

Ok , Blackgold,....glad to help out.....Seeing that you have a knack for getting junk on your PC, consider installing WOT (Web of Trust) on the computer....then when you browse you'll know whether the websites you visit  are safe or not.
