Title: Advent 9315 screen
Post by: Mulreay on December 15, 2009, 07:47:35 AM
Ok so I arrive in London with my large bag that contains one laptop. Walking across the road and 'snap' the strap snapped 'crash'. Thought nothing of it at the time but when I set my laptop up... see pic.

Is it worth replacing the screen on something like this and is it a big job?

Best thing you can do is price out a replacement for it and determine if it's worth rescuing...

Yeah just priced it off Amazon.. £67.99 not to big a deal I suppose. Will have to get some micro-screwdrivers as well.. Thanks for the reply.

That's actually a really GOOD deal considering...

I agree - At that price it is worth replacing the screen - I had to replace the screen on my laptop and it was quite easy

Ok ran into a snag of sorts. Ordered the screen which will be here tomorrow. Now I can't undo one of the two screws on each side of the screen. Tried 3 different types of micro screwdrivers and it's getting to the point that I'm running a risk of rounding them off. Are there any tips to get these little.... things out before I break something else. Also is there a chance there could be a nut on the other side so would have to access it that way?
Thanks in advance

And there's me thinking the clue was in the title. It's an Advent 9315.

Well I got my new screen. I fitted it as well. Very happy with myself. Unfortunately I did take some pics but as they were done with a 14.6mp camera they take to long to upload.
All I had to do was remove the screen bezel, still a job and a half.
Thanks to Patio and Camerongray for there input, much appreciated.
Happy new year to you both.
