Title: email (outlook express) won't open
Post by: whitjs on May 06, 2013, 09:20:22 AM
Email was working just fine yesterday. Turned on the computer this morning and my email won't open. I keep getting the timed out message. I then get the message, outlook express not responding-time out occured with server. Error #0x800CCC19.
I have also noticed when I go into google and try and open another tab (facebook) it will not open.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Oh yes, email working fine on my lap top just not my desk top.

Maybe somebody fooled with the settings on the desktop. Do you have kids or teens in the house?

No, no kids or teenagers to blame it on! Checked my settings for receiving email and everything seems to be fine.
Really frustrated can't figure this out! ???

Try disabling your antivirus software and then retrieving email.  Be cautious and avoid opening attachments during this test.

Do you allow Outlook Express to compact messages when it prompts you to do so?

Yes, I allow compacting messages.

I disabled the security and tried to get in but still got the time out message.
I do notice something else though. I can open my google short cut and try a search for something and not all pages will open.
I also tried my computer hope short cut which took me to the hope page. I then clicked on the xp forum and it wouldn't open.
Seems like some pages will open and some won't!

Sounds alot more like a connection issue than anything else...
