Hey all,
I just thought I'd put this poll out, as I remember a few years ago the Norton Anti-virus database was at least 6 mths behind anybody else. So I just thought I'd put this poll out so see try and see if it's still just as bad as it use to be.

Norton has made great improvements in the last few years. They are steadily gaining back respect but, just like Microsoft, there will always be those why love to bash them.

+1. It was always a good product, but after Peter Norton sold out to Symantec there were some "bloat" issues. As EF says, it's much better now and a solid option as an AV regardless of what some naysayers may say (or naysay ;) ).

When they realized a corporate network and a home computer are two different things is when things started to quickly improve. For a while there it seemed as if they were trying to incorporate the same protection for both and it was literally killing the home users systems. WAY too much bloat!

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I was just asking as I'd been giving it a hard time for a while, some still do though. I just thought I'd see what people think. Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts on the matter :)

Its a piece of junk!... every time I see a computer with it, it crawls, keeps interrupting users when it expires, difficult to uninstall, etc. etc. etc. I even suspect that they purposely put viruses in peoples machines to get them to purchase or renew the subscription!.. I prefer Microsoft Security Essentials. It doesnt degrade system performance, its free and regularly updated. What better anti-virus program could you get than by the same people who developed Windows, which makes for the best integration in anti-virus software!

You suspect Norton is releasing viruses onto users computers? What makes you think Microsoft isn't covering up infections to make their antivirus look better to users? It's their OS and antivirus software. You could get infected and have it repaired..... all in the background. The perfect solution!!!

Sounds like there's a lot of Norton employees or stockholders trying to defend a dying roach! ;D Norton is nowhere as huge as Microsoft!.. Why would Microsoft want to cover-up norton or any other virus?.. They would stand to loose a lot! However, Norton has nothing to loose, believe me, people are unistalling Norton all the time because their computers literally freeze-up. Plus norton is so money-hungry, that's why they keep nagging people to renew or subscribe to the point where people just want it off their systems! It's like showing desperation before dying! R.I.P. NORTON! The word is out! :P

Just wanted to say thanks to you all for posting your views, but I guess the poll says it all.... or does it. I guess I'll still advise people to go for something else me thinks lol!
