Title: Internet switch - causing software problems
Post by: Java Junkie on March 21, 2010, 12:39:42 PM
Well, I've had some problems, I've been fixing them from google, but this one is... High for me :P

So, since I have 2 computers in house (Laptop and pc), I'm using switch to have internet on both (Air Live- FSH8PS v3   8-port switch). Since I started  using it, can only browse internet in Firefox, in IE and Chrome it doesn't load pages, and when I try to sign in on Windows Live Messenger, I can't. When I go to Troubleshoot on Messenger, it says "Your gateway appears to be offline". So, I THINK that switch is making it impossible to use internet programs except Firefox, but I really want Chrome  :'(

Edit: I'm in wrong section I suppose lol

I can't imagine how a switch would block two browsers but allow another to work.  Have you tried different ports?

Have you tried hooking one of the computers direct to the DSL or cable modem and bypassing the switch?

Which DSL service?
Which modem?
Does the switch have a firewall?
