Post by: green tea on August 01, 2010, 01:08:14 AM
Hi guys, what is the absolute best program to use for opening/extracting rar files on a Mac?

I want one that is free to d/l and use, reliable and does not cause any errors. Thanks

Thanks.

I have some more questions regarding zip files. I'm on Snow Leopard (latest version, up to date). Does the Unarchive Utility work 100% of the time in opening up zip files? Can someone walk me through the process.

And do the zip files HAVE to be on the desktop for the Unarchiving to work. Or it doesn't matter where it's located.

It doesn't matter where the file is located, and yes, as long as the zip archive is not damaged or corrupt, it will work 100% of the time.

Mac has a native ZIP tool. UnrarX is a RAR tool; it works similarly to the ZIP tool. Double click the archive and it extracts in the same directory.
