I was looking for a site that that will allow me to play chess and card games for free online. I did come across one site called pogo.com, but some topics accuse it of having spyware and I don't want a site that installs such things. Does anyone no of any other free sites - Thanks!!
-
Aside from purchasing a game and then playing on an online server, I have no idea.
I have yet to hear of one of those sites that doesn't rely on spyware.

http://www.chess.com/ (http://www.chess.com/) - Free online chess against human opponents.
http://www.zynga.com/games/?network=all (http://www.zynga.com/games/?network=all) - has Texas Hold 'Em and Blackjack games that can be played through social networking websites like Facebook and MySpace.
No download required for any of these. They're played straight through your browser.
-
You could also try 'full tilt poker' If you like Texas hold em. You do have to download this but there are no dodgy issues with it.
-
Yea man go to yahoo games. games.yahoo.com
Lots of games. All of the online ones are free I believe.

If you like Texas holm em.
Is that similar to Texas Hold Em?
-
Yes its the same but with a Sherlock Holms theme :P

Would you be meaning Holmes?
-
It's a Cross between Poker and clue, with various plot elements taken from Holmes. The objective is to catch your opponents doing something mysterious, and then to "holmes" them, or perform a long-winded soliloquy that takes elements observed in passing on multiple occasions and combines them together into almost conclusive evidence pointing at the opponent.
-
I'd play that..
-
Heck, I would too. Think you're on to something, BC. ;)
-
the key part of the game is with "soliloquy construction", one must be quick thinking in order to both observe erratic behaviour as well as use unnecessarily long words to convey it; It's more of a language-building game then poker. In fact I believe it is based on "hooked on phonics" but without the hook. Or the phonics.... Or the on.... but every box will come with a small monkey dressed as sherlock holmes. It will be a blast.
Although I suppose support costs will go through the roof when people start getting their monkeys arriving dead, and who knows what will happen when PETA catches wind of it... and I have a feeling the FDA would find the transport of live, exotic, and possibly endangered wildlife (even if they are trained in the art of pointing a magnifying glass at anything they look at) as a little bit illegal, so it will need a lot of venture capital to get started.
Or, we could not have the monkey. But... that is what the kids want! Board games with pre-packaged monkeys!
In fact, I might be onto something here, as well; Monkey Monopoly! Monkey Parcheesi! Monkey Checkers! INCLUDES MONKEY! (exotic tropical fruits Sold separately). Each board game will include a specially trained monkey that can move the pieces as people wish. Each board game will include 5 Monkey diapers. Monkey diaper Refills sold separately. *we do NOT take returns on used monkey diapers!*

You may have a problem with longevity though. Monkeys do have a limited life span depending on how they are treated. You could do re-fills like ink cartridges I suppose. :)

"Monkey refill pack"
"diapers not included"

Sorry, yes you have thought of everything. :D
-
and of course the diapers would have the label, "not tested on animals"

I really don't think animal welfare groups are campaigning at the moment about the evil monsters testing diapers (Nappies in the UK) on animals.

heh, in a similar vein, imagine that label on toilet paper...
HOW do you "test" toilet paper on animals? I can see them in a laboratory, with a roll of toilet paper, some Guinea Pigs and a clipboard.
Imagine how the scientists would feel! One day they're studying the composition of the sun, the next their wiping animal buts.
-
lol. Talk about going down in the world. :D

On the other hand, they'd be making the same amount, I would imagine.
-
Yeah but as a scientist what would you rather do? I don't think your going to be writing many papers on animals general reaction to toilet paper.
-
"Subject A,(Guinea Pig) with Test Paper P-17,after 12 successive wipe sessions, has developed lesions around the anus and perineum."
"Subject B,(Guinea Pig) with Test Paper P-12, after 12 successive wipe sessions has no such lesions and appears quite pleased with the general "clean feeling". Additionally he has started writing memoirs."
On a related note, I have finally staved off the hippie protesters outside the front door. As a response to their queries I merely mentioned that they were merely Jealous of the Guinea Pigs use of Toilet Paper, since they never use it.
I found a similar solution worked equally well last year with the Shampoo testing.
