I have changed the power supply, motherboard, graphics card and also checked the surge protector and the outlet if that helps. I dont know what it could be, i dont think its overheating because the temp never goes past 113 degrees ferienhiet. Thanks

Have you installed any new hardware or software BEFORE the game started acting up?

It's been happing for a while with a lot of different games, before i changed any of the parts and after. Could it possibly be the ram?
-
Maybe... How much you got? Also, have you scanned for viruses?

I have Two 512 Mb sticks (PC-2700) - each from a different company - and as for viruses, i reformated and scanned for virsus many times, did both on sunday this past week.

When the computer lock-up, are there any error messages? Does this ONLY happen when playing a game?

Yea, it only happens when i play a game and it just locks up, no error messages, the computer is running but nothing is reasponding.

I think i found the problem - it was the Ram - when i ran the system with only one chip of 512mb it ran perfectly and the games didnt freeze - it didnt matter which stick i put in - both worked, independently. Since they are from 2 companys are they a little different? Is their any way i can run both withought having to replace on of the chips to make both chips the same company? Thanks

So let me het this right... If you only use ONE of your RAM sticks, everything is fine, but when they are BOTH inside, there are problems?

Yea, its strange, ive never seen anythin like this before, they are identical chips (same clock speed, speed, etc), just different companies.
-
Very strange indeed.... Are they both the same type of RAM? (ex. PC133, etc.)
[glb]Flame[/glb]
-
Yes they are - they are both PC-2700 - 333Mhz - CL 2.5 - the only thing that is that they are 2 different companies.
-
That's not right! lol Can you take one of the RAM sticks back to where you bought it, and exchange it for a new one?
