Hey, I was wondering what this means and how I can fix it. I can't log into safe mode and this problem continues even after I put in the Windows XP CD. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
-
Post EXACT error, and when it happens.
-
I turn on the computer, goes to the Windows XP log-in, black screen momentarily, then the blue screen pops up saying "c0000135(unable to locate component) This application has failed to start because user32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
-
Did you try Safe Mode?
-
I did and it just goes to the blue screen.

1. If you have Windows CD, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp
2. If you don't have Windows CD...
Download Windows Recovery Console: http://www.thecomputerparamedic.com/files/rc.iso
Download, and install free Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
Using Imgburn, burn rc.iso to a CD.
Boot to the CD...let it finish loading.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
Then, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp, starting below this picture on page 1:

I'm going to get my XP CD tomorrow and try it out. Do you think if I have the CD it will correct this error? Also, I have to boot it from the CD Drive correct?
-
Yes, you have to boot from Windows CD.
There is no guarantee, but we have to start with some steps.
-
OK Broni, I have the XP reinstallation CD what's the next step?
-
Windows repair: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How-to-repair-Windows-XP-t138.html
-
Ok I ran setup and in the process of installing windows it says "The file usbehci.sys could not be found"...it lets me browse but I have no clue where to find this file.
-
Is it legit Windows XP CD?
If so, try to clean the CD.
-
It is, I guess you can just download the file onto a USB disk and transfer it on it said that on another forum...
-
Possible, but it doesn't guarantee, it'll work. No harm to try, though.
-
Ok it finished installing but still goes into setup is this normal?
-
Did you remove CD?
-
Ooops my bad, I'll do that now
-
I removed the CD but it keeps going through a cycle of the Windows XP screen then reboots over and over again.
-
Go back to my reply #5, and try those steps.
-
Once it's done installing, I remove the CD and change the boot sequence back to internal HDD right?
-
You don't have to change boot order. CD drive being the first one is perfectly fine.
-
OK the reinstall worked fine, no more virus problems...HOWEVER, my internet explorer doesn't work, when I try to open it it says "The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll" What does this mean?
-
Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy.
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD.
If sfc won't find any errors in Windows XP, it'll simply quit, without any message.
-
Why are you working the same problem in two threads?
Funny, Broni and I are giving the exact same advice...
http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,76041.0.html
The rootkit is still there. We just need to get Windows working.

LOOOOOOOL
msu715 - 50 lashes!
evil, what do you want to do?
I think, it's better, if he stays in your thread, since the computer is still infected??
-
Alright Broni, I'll stick with evil fantasy thanks for your help
-
Yea we should stay there since the rootkit is still active. Hopefully the SCF will work and we can get back to cleanup.
-
If sfc doesn't work for some reason, I also read, that the above error may be caused by KB834707 update, if installed on corrupt SP2 installation.
-
We got it back with Dial-a-fix :)
-
Cool :)
