I was trying to save some space on my PC, so I moved things over to an external HD, Apparently I moved too many things. Now, I can't use my computer. I have my background picture and every few minutes the icons come up, they only stay for about 10 seconds and then they are gone again. I was fast enough to get to the system restore, but it says that it can't protect my PC. I tried to defrag but that wouldn't work either..Please tell me that this is fixable and that my wife will still love me for screwing up her computer. I need your help!!!!!

It might help if you told us exactly what you moved.
-
Well, that's part of the problem. I can't remember everything I moved. it was almost a week ago

Go To Your External, Find Out The Date Your Files Were Modified .( It Would Help If You Know The Exact Date, Or Closest). Group Those Files Together And See Exactly What You Moved. :(
-
Sorry, you're sleeping on the couch.
-
unhooking the H drive might have to wait until tomorrow. once I group everything together, should I catch the icon fast enough and try to transfer it back to the C drive?

Commando, you're killin me here...LOL...I'm a Firefighter not a computer whiz

...I'm a Firefighter not a computer whiz
We already know that. That's why you're here.
You are now a computer firefighter.
Can you look at the external HD to see what you moved? If you moved instead of copied, you might have deleted your personal profiles, which is what the symptoms tend to indicate. It may not be too serious, if it worked for a week.
AS a last resort. the computer can be fixed, but you might not like what you have to do: Reinstall Windows.
You will lose everything on the computer, & it will be return to the state when you bought it.
What is the make & model of the computer?

a dell dimension 2400...I know..kinda old. But still works well...at least it used to

Since you're not able to give any information on what you moved, this would be only a guess: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151

You can safely ignore the advice above...
