Title: Unable to upload pictures to ebay
Post by: rabdin2002 on February 06, 2008, 07:42:56 AM
I am trying to upload pictures to my Ebay listing but when I click the upload
it just remains on the upload timer without uploading the pictures to my listing.
I have gone through a series of suggestions from the ebay costomer services
but this situation has not changed.
I have tried to do the same upload on another computer and the pictures have
uploaded ok.
Can anyone advise what the problem is regarding not being able to upload pictures
to Ebay listing.

You need to tell us more information.

Tell us about your computer, operating system version, browser & version, etc.

Also, you need to tell us what eBay has had you try so far.  This way we aren't backtracking.

 Hi Anita

I have tried the recommended settings with one
  question.
For the enable Java SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0, I have
gone to the advanced tab but when I scroll down
there is no "Java (Sun) " hence there is no option
  "Use Java 2".

The only options relating to Java under the Advanced

  tab are:-
  Java console enable
  Java logging enable
  JIT compiler

I have tried all the other settings you suggested
only the Java one I could not complete as
you suggested I ticked the box for Java logging
  enabled.

I have tried to upload pictures but it is staying on

the upload timer forever, just like the original
  problem.

This is the other information :-
Browser version - Orange Speedtouch Connection

ISP - Orange Speedtouch 330 PPP Connection

Type of connection - Broadband/ Modem

  Antivirus -  Spyware doctor

Error message - None just stays on picture upload
                  timer forever

What size is your photo - Not sure just normal
                            size have tried from
                            two cameras both the same
                            result.

Error steps  -  Going through tje normal procedure
to list an item and the problem
occurs at the picture upload, where
it stays on the upload timer.

Listing Time of Day -  I have tried all times
                         throughout the day with the
                         same results.

  Regards

  Bob Simpson

What size is your photo - Not sure just normal
                            size have tried from
                            two cameras both the same
                            result.
First of all, you need to know what size the photo is.  If you're saying that it's "normal size," I'm assuming you haven't shrunk the photo at all.  If you camera is decent quality, that means you're probably trying to upload a photo bigger than a meg, which can take a while even on broadband.

Try that first.

Also, the reason why you don't see the java options are probably because you don't have it installed.  Download java, as you'll most likely need it for other things as well.

The pictures I am trying to upload are from the same camera that I used successfully before I used the reload backup CD to install the XP operating system.
Since you mentioned I have noticed in the add/ remove programs there is no Java installed.
I have tried to download Java but keep getting the message " MSIEXE.EXE-Ordinal Not Found", with the following message in the box, "The ordinal 280 could not be located in the dynamic link library msi.dll

Read This (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/268800)   and run the fix first....then try the java install.
If it doesn't run post back with the name of the java package...you may be DLoading the wrong one.

Not sure how to download the windows installer from the first link, I have tried but when I try to download "Java Runtime Environment (JRE)6 Update 4 " from ther second link I get the same error message as follows.
"The ordinal 280 could not be located in the dynamic link library msi.dll."

Not sure if I have downloaded the windows installer correctly.

If you're still getting that message, then you haven't installed the windows installer correctly.  Try it again and let us know what happens.

I have tried to download windows installer from the first link.
From the files in this download section I successfully downloaded the following
Windows installer-KB893803-v2-x86.exe this was 2.5MB.
The other two files Redist.txt, and Windows installer 3.1 EULA.doc, I dont know what to do with them.

I then tried the Java Runtime Environment(JRE)6 Update 4

The files to download were
Windows Offline installations
Windows Online Installationd
Windowsx64 Executables

Non of the three files would download due to the same error message
ordinal 280 could not be located in the dynamic link library nsl.dll

Note I'm still not sure if I have downloaded the windows installer correctly
not sure how to use the first link to do this

If you are running anything newer than WinME go to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...have your Windows CD handy as it may ask for it....

What flavor of Windows is this ? ?
Keep in mind that if there's nothing wrong with Windows system files this will  happen quite rapidly.
There's a space between sfc and /scannow

Hi patio
you were right I didnt see the space between sfc and /scannow, it went to
windows file protection and times out ok with no significant change.

I am still not sure if I have downloaded the windows installer is there any way I can check this.

The microsoft support page is not clear to me and I am not sure how to download the installer

The other two files just leave alone, but you first need to install Windows installer-KB893803-v2-x86.exe

Just double click it and follow instructions.  Let us know if you get stuck.

windows installer -KB893803-v2-x86.exe seems to download ok

then I tried to download Java one of the three files

Windows x64 executable  (jre-6u4-windows-x64.exe)
It tried to download then I received the Windows installer message
( The windows installer service could not be accessed. This ca occur if you are running windows in safe mode. Or if windows installer is not correctly installed.

I have also asked the question before in the above posting, as far as I know I followed the download procedure for the windows installer.

I have opened " Add or Remove Programs " and I am seeing  " windows installer 3.1 (KB893803) " listed in currenly installed programs, so I am assuming "windows installer" is installed.

 thanks for the help

When you DLoad a file where are they saved to ? ?
The Desktop is most common...
Find the Windows installer fix file you DLoaded and double clik it and it should install itself.
You may want to re-boot after...

Hi Patio

I am searching my desktop and I can not see any windows installer icon anywhere,
the only place I can see windows installer 3.1(KB893803) is in the add/ remove programs listed in the "currently installed programs."
