Title: Windows update freezes
Post by: Woodentop on August 28, 2004, 03:09:24 PM
I think this problem has been aired before but I forgot to bookmark the page, so perhaps someone can direct me to the right archive page.  My OS is Windows ME and when I have to I use IE6 (Mozilla Firefox is much better).  Every time I attempt to update my Windows from the Microsoft update site my computer freezes and I have to restart >:(  any help or direction gratefully received :)

Does this concern a legal version of Windows XP?

I know of copied Windows XP versions that crash when attempting to manually update..

I am running Windows ME not XP and yes it is a legal copy of that OS.

My mistake.

Did you check to see if there are any programs running that may cause a problem whilst updating?

What programmes would you suggest might do this?

Perhaps a virus scanner or a firewall?
