Have you ever wondered how the UTP wires on the standard Ethernet cable are color coded? Have you every tried to replace a broken connector? Even if you have the right tool, you need to know what the colors in the cable mean. Or where each ones goes into the connector before you squeeze it.
As you have found, you only get one try with the connector. I found a video that makes it clear what you have to do to get it right.
