Title: My RJ-45 Ethernet cable is not working

Hi
            I am Using BSNL Internet connection 256KBps with modem. i bought 10m RJ-45 cable from computer store. cable is working properly in computer shop they are also having same ISP.but when i connect in my Laptop (HCL),  i didnot receive any signal. but i could get internet connection when i connect BSNL internet service provider's RJ-45 cable. so plz help me how to resolve .

Are you saying you bought a longer cable and it does not work?  But it worked at the shop?

The maximum length for cat 5 cable is 100m, so it's not a length issue.  My guess is that it a connector issue.

Did you have an older cable that was shorter?  Does it still work?  BTW, RJ-45 is the connector, and cat 5 is the cable.

Are you sure they didn't sell you a crossover cable ? ?
Either way i'd have taken it back by now...
