Title: DVD drive problem
Post by: radu_iceman on September 01, 2008, 01:54:50 AM
Hello  , I have the same problem and I was searching on the internet solutions and I found this forum . My father told me 1-2 weeks ago that he was trying to watch a movie , but the DVD drive wouldn't read the DVD . Today I tryed to some DVDs . I inserted the DVDs in the DVD drive , it spined and then it stoped . I tryed another one , another one ... Why isn't it reading them ? I don't think it's a problem with the computer because  I have a CD drive and it works normally and its much more older than the DVD drive .The DVD is an LG one

 Can someone help me ?

What exactly happens when you place a DVD in the drive?

What program are you using to play the disk? (Windows media player, Real player, Nero,etc...)

Is this the first time you have had this problem?

Also, can you confirm it is a DVD Drive?

What is the model of your computer?

It's the first time this hapens to me . I take a DVD which contains some programs , games , movie etc . and I want to use Wat's on it . I put the DVD in the drive . It starts to spin , and then it stopes . When I go to " my computer " it's like I don't have any DVD inside . My computer is made by CIM or GIM computers . Its 5 years old ( i think ) .

And yes , I can confirm its a DVD drive  :-\

5 years old....Hmmmmm.....

For a CD/DVD Drive, usually the first thing that starts to fail due to age is the DVD Reading Capability.

Can you get into Device Manager and check to see if there are any Yellow Question Marks or Exclamation Marks?

When you right click either of them, is there an option to Update or Install or something?
If so, click it to install the drivers.

I think we should just leave it on the forums, partly because I'm not sure what to do next.  :-X

I am not sure but you may want to turn off the computer, open the case, unplug your DVD Drive and then replug it and see how that goes.
