I did the acitve scan which detected over 2000 viruses  :o When it says "disinfected" does that mean it has removed the objects from my pc?

It also found some spyware and one dialer:

The Ewido one wouldnt work... a message came up saying something about how the program asked the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way... after pressing ok, the browser closes.. :-?

I would say yes, but that might not be the best idea. Maybe re-running the programs could fix it. Check you internet connections to see if odd things are their.

U mean I shouldnt delete them... and rerun the spyware programs? The only thing is that the activescan one only deletes certain things and wont delete others like the spyware and the dialer....

lol, you're talking to a real novice here, as you can see.....  :-[ How do I check my internet connections...  :-?

I think you should run a Disk Defrag. Some (or alot) of these files that are taking up space are probably fragmented files, which usually appear when you install/uninstall software and hardware. Take note that this may take a while depending on system speed. To do this click on Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter ... Keep us posted.

lol, yes 2000! Do I get a medal?  But I have a feeling that some of them werent really viruses because..... A while a ago I started playing around with C++ and had saved some of the programs I had made while learning.... some of those were detected as viruses...:P

I have adaware and SpyBot SD (which is set on Resident) - I run both about weekly or bi-weekly at the least and checkout updates too... Maybe I have some nastly lil gremlin they cant detect... I dont know... but even after deleting them 2000 viruses, I only freed another 250 or so MB...hmmm

I did a defragment about 3 weeks ago and it took like 6/7 hours! Do i get a medal for that one too hehehe....

Thanks for all your help guys will do all the above and let you know what happens. I'll be waiting for my medal.... and yes yes of course i'll mention you all in my thank you speech...

Has your computer stopped eating your disk space? (Creating files)
If not, run the programs I posted earlier.
If so, you will need to find the files it created and delete them.
This is a virus, you can do the cleanup & defrag routine later.

6 to 7 hours is UNREAL. It should never take more than 3. Even 3 is rare... Something's up... I'll wait for your results before posting anything...

If you're still having trouble with viruses/spyware/adware , go to: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Do a full system scan.

This online virus scanning program will detect all known malware (at least what is knows to Trend Micro).

Requirements:
Hardware:

133MHz Intel™ Pentium™ processor or equivalent
64MB of RAM
At least 30MB of available disk space
Operating System:

Microsoft Windows 98SE/NT4.0,SP6a/2000,SP2/XP,SP1/2003 and Windows MCE 2005
Linux Distributions that supports libc6
Solaris 2.6 and above
Software:

Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 or later
Mozilla Firefox 1.0.5, 1.0.6, 1.0.7, 1.5
Mozilla 1.7.12
Display: Monitor that supports 800 x 600 resolution at 256 colors or higher

This does work for 98SE, so I THINK it will work for Millenium Edition.
