Title: line stats/ telnet problems
Post by: ElviraKate on October 24, 2009, 09:08:15 AM
We have a Linksys WAG54GS with two computers using it.  Although the ADSL light seems steady and the connections between the computers and the router are pretty stable, we often lose the internet connection (we are with Demon), ie the DSL is up but the Gateway is down.  I am trying to find out how to get more information about what is going on, but the router logs only cover a few minutes at a time and there seems no way to save them.

I am also trying to get some line stats information, and the way to do this seems to be (I've googled extensively!) to telnet into the router and ask it that way.  But I cannot get a telnet connection.  I keep getting either a Winsock error or an invalid command error.  I do not understand DOS well enough to find a way round this.

Can anybody help?

Have u tried to reset the router? Usually there is a reset in the back (pinhole) u press for 30 sec and resets the router to factory defaults. Then is just a matter of going to the router and entering the admin and password.  Write bavk and let us known.
