Title: Hard Disk not detected
Post by: savagegod7 on September 07, 2009, 04:51:14 AM
Hi Friends,

I have purchased a new Seagate Barracuda 250 GB SATA Hard Disk for my Desktop. It seems this new HD is not detected by PC. Previously i was having Seagate 120 GB hard disk which is burned and not usuable now. My system is AMD Athelon 64 bit processor with MSI motherboard VIA K8M800-CE + VT8237R chipset. It will support Raid0 or Raid1. I have a raid floppy disk with me. It used for my old HD, i don't know whether the new HD required any other Raid. When i try to install Windows XP 2, as usuall it will ask for Raid and i have inserted the floppy. Sytem is reading from flopy but unable to detect KD. Please help.

Thanks and Regards

Did the Seagate ship with a CD with diagnostic SeaTools on it ? ?
If the drive is not formatted it will not be recognised.
The SeaTools are available at their website FREE.

Does the BIOS see the drive ? ?
If not then you need to install the SATA drivers for it.
These will be available at the MBoard manuf. site...

It has nothing to do with partitions...it needs to be formatted if it isn't...
Of course partitions can be created but that is not the issue...
You're also ignoring the fact that it may be missing SATA drivers as well.

Nothing.
It simply wasn't helpful to his predicament.
Think things out when posting advice.
