Title: Connecting HTC phone to transfer music
Post by: mej0709 on May 13, 2012, 09:09:18 PM
If I connect my HTC phone through the USB port to transfer music from my PC to my phone, will the data (pictures, apps, contacts, etc) on my phone somehow be automatically transferred/saved to the PC?  I had the phone in "Disk Drive" mode when I connected it.  Thanks!

Welcome!
Computer Hope is the number one location for free computer help.

Which model HTC phone? Are you using Windows XP?

Windows should recognize it as a "USB storage device". You then have to use some program to transfer files.  Windows Media Player should work.

Have you ever got it to work? Are you using the recommended  USB cable to hook the phone to the computer?  Did it work once and quit?

Does your phone also have a WI-Fri?
Have you tried the USB cable with the WI-Fri in OFF?
(TI read somewhere he WI-Fri can interfere with USB.)

HTC has software for backing up contacts, and transferring photos, videos, and music.

HTC Sync

Not sure if direct linking to the installer will work. If it doesn't, go to the HTC website, click "Help", choose your phone model*, click the "News & Download" tab, then download the HTC Sync program.

*It doesn't matter what model of phone you select actually, they all use the same version of HTC Sync.
