Title: vista  & tesco broadband

I have just purchase a new Dell with windows Vista, having problems with broadband connection(Tesco) they have sent a new disc but not working with that either, assume its the Modem any suggestions?

There is a known issue with Vista and broadband suppliers...

If your ISP uses MS-CHAP v.1 then Windows Vista does not support it.  Contact your ISP to see if they can fix it so you can use MS-CHAP v.2.

Does the error message you get when you try to connect say something about security protocols?

thank you for that info, will check with my daughter  she is the one who has purchased the new computer with (Dell / Vista package).  Trying to help her resolve  promlem. She did install the original disc with her tesco broad band on windows 98, on her new computer , now they have sent her a new disc but it still wont work.

If Tesco wants to keep her as a customer, they should provide tech support for her for free over the phone.  If they cannot help her, there are usually plenty of other broadband providers in the sea.  For example, i have four in my area (2 cable, one DSL and one satellite).
