Title: stealth mode, causing problems ? ?
Post by: EEVIAC on April 08, 2010, 04:24:46 PM
I was wondering if anyone has had browser problems while "stealth mode" is ON in their router.

I've had problems with Firefox for some time now.  I'd say 3 out of 10 times I use it, it gives me the error that it "cannot find the server".  A simple "retry" will fix the problem, but not always.  I just disabled "stealth mode" in my router.  We'll see what happens..

I've tried changing the dns server that my computers use, the results are inconclusive, at this point..

Well, disabling stealth mode doesn't seem to correct the problem, at all.

I went back to trying different dns servers, we'll see what happens I guess.

I've already tried firefox in Safe Mode, although I haven't used many add-ons, if any.

Re-enable Stealth mode...that hides your ports, making you less susceptible to hacking attempts.

Edit: Nevermind, Kaspersky Lab forums say that it has been know to cause problems and

It's completely safe not to use it.

Hey,

Are you using anything like ZoneAlarm?  If so you might want to check in case this is somehow blocking your access.  If you are running that with the windows firewall (at the same time) this can cause conflict also and restrict access to the web I've found.
