Hey, can someone please help me?
When I try to access the internet, Internet Explorer comes up with the following message:
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
I have tried going to different webpages, e.g. google, yahoo, optus homepage, but they also failed to load. My computer says that it is connected to both the wireless reuter and the Internet, and I can access the Internet from a different computer, so I don't think there is a problem with my Internet connection.
I just removed a virus from my computer yesterday, but i don't think it is caused by the virus. The virus had prevented me from accessing most of my applications/programs, such as Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, system restore, etc. but after using ComboFix i was able to remove it and am not experiencing any of the problems that it had caused.
Immediately afterwards, I was even able to go onto the Internet and log into msn. It worked normally, but after half an hour or so, whenever I tried to click on a Google link, it kept on getting redirected to another page. Msn was still working though Internet Explorer wouldn't display the page. I tried restarting my computer, and now I keep on getting the same message. Everything else on my computer is still running normally.
I think there is something wrong with my Internet settings or DNS. Does anyone have any ideas as to what's wrong and how i can fix this?
Thanks.

When you try to open your computer is it very slow?
-
I am in the same boat. When I attempt to access I E from the desktop icon it takes upwards of fifteen minutes to connect sometimes.I have no idea what is causing this.Very frustrating to say the least...
-
When I start my computer it usually takes it a while to start up, so there's nothing strange there.
I checked my network connections and all icons show that i can connect to the wireless network and Internet quite easily. The wireless network has excellent connection and the icon also shows Internet connecting normally as well, without always disconnecting.
However, Internet Explorer just won't display the webpage. I also can't sign into Msn. I tried troubleshooting Msn and it says there is a problem with either my DNS server or key ports. ><

DLoad and install Firefox...
Dump IE.
You only need it for Windows updates anyways.
-
I downloaded Firefox but the only option the program gives you is to make it the default browser. What if you don't want to do this?...
-
Say no. See, if Firefox works.
-
It is done automatically. You do not have the yes or no option.
-
You can change it later. Does Firefox work? That's what important now.
-
Have it in my toolbar now.Does it have a news page like Google and Yahoo? Can I iconize(?) it to the desktop?
-
OK. Can you access web pages using Firefox?

Runs great! Thanks...
Question: I need to buy a new desktop. The one I have is a 12 year old Dell. Where is the best place here and on the web to post for info and input? Thank you...

My IE works fine now with evilfantasy's help. Thanks everyone. :)

I wouldn't recommend keeping IE8.

I'm having similar problems. I'm running Vista.
My laptop is connected to the net using a router but I cannot view web pages using Explorer. Windows Live Messenger works fine as does my PS3 so it's not a router/connection problem.
Firefox does not work as well as I have already tried that remedy. I also updated and downloaded IE8 which also doesn't work. Any help would be great!!
