I have NAV 2005 running on a P-III with WinXP Home. I recently installed a Creative Professional E-MU 0404 PCI Digital Audio System sound card. When I booted up, NAV's auto protect was disabled. I was able to download and run a patch from Symantec's site to enable NAV. However, everytime I boot up, I must manually enable auto protect. Does anyone know if the conflict between NAV 2005 and the E-MU 0404 has been resolved in NAV 2006?

DOn't know about that, but you may want to try AVG Free (for free) before shelling out more cash to Norton. Just a thought. ;)

Have you opened NAV and checked the settings there? I'm using an older version of NAV. My version has a checkbox for ""Start Auto-Protect when Windows starts up". Maybe you just need to re-set that.

Thanks soybean for the suggestion. The Auto Start box is checked.

Do you have something called Media Source Go! installed? It's from Creative.

Media Source Go!? What is this program? I did not see anything on Creative's website which refered to this.

Is this problem a known issue with NAV on their site? What about if you completely uninstall that (Good luck there!, but instructions should be on Symantec site) and then reboot and reinstall IF your sound is working.

Just please tell me if Media Source Go! is installed.

As far as I can tell, Media Source Go! is not installed on my computer.

ok. What is installed? What I mean is when you click on Start -> All programs -> Creative , what do you see inside?

Under Creative Professional are the following: Digital Audio System Documents, E-MU PatchMix DSP, Proteus X LE and Product Registration.
