Title: toshiba laptop sounds on but isnt
Post by: salzbrunb on June 28, 2012, 05:53:56 PM
A couple weeks ago my computer stopped working. I closed it and when i opened it back up there was a black screen. It sounds like its on and the indicator lights are working. but the screen is black and when i plug it into an external screen like a tv it still does not work. I let it sit for a week or so and i plugged it back in to charge and it turned on. I used it for a couple minutes then closed it again. when i came back, it went back to not working again. Please help.

Maybe the GPU chipset is failing due to overheating as this intermittent problem from not booting or blackscreen indicates that its being faulty. The video chip means a motherboard or laptop replacement. If you can do further testing, try running a diagnostic test for the hard drive and memory modules since most laptop nowadays have these options.
