how do i arrange files by type in the same folder? could do it in XP, but i cant seem to figure out how in 7
thanks ???
-
Don't understand - just sort on "type". Of course you need to make sure "hide extensions for known file types" isn't checked.
-
well then i must be really missing something. i see no 'sort' option ???
-
Just click on "type" at the top of that column. It's exactly the same as every other version of Windows. Or right-click and choose "sort by..."

well that answer led me to look again. you can only do that if the folder is set to 'details'. i had it on medium icons, and that option is not available.
thanks for the lead. can sort now.
;D

Sorry - I always use "details" and never thought you'd be doing otherwise :)

In other views, you can right click a blank area of the folder and select sort by->Item type.
