Title: Is XP modified for SATA install available from someone?
Post by: jagwinn on February 22, 2011, 07:27:35 AM
Some things I can do, some things evade me. Using N'lite to create a WinXP OS disk with the drivers for my Gateway with SATA is one that I tried several times but can't seem to make it work.

Is there a source for a disk already prepared for WinXP? or is there a place to send my OS disk and have one created?

Thanks,
John

It really couldn't be easier to do. See if this helps: http://www.digitgeek.com/how-to-slipstream-sata-drivers-into-xp-cd/

Thank you Allan,

When I previous attempted this I was mistaken to believe that the computer used to make the ISO had to be WinXP. Of course I have Vista.

I will attempt this again with your encouragement.

Another question: I also have Win2000Pro; Win2003Server; and NT4. Are any or all or none of these candidates for N'lite treatment.

Hate to be a stickler on these old softwares, but my main programs are AutoCAD2000 and AutoCAD2000LT. I tried using the wizard to emmulate early Win OS in Vista with very poor performance.

I'll keep you posted, but it might be the weekend before I try....

Thanks,
John

NLite will work on Win2k.....don't think it works on any Server editions of Win though...
