Title: amd 710 x3 with ddr2
Post by: xscharm on July 23, 2009, 01:11:19 AM
The computer store guy sez the processor will lose some functionality if I use DDR2 memory with my amd 710 x3 instead of DDR3.  If the mobo (which I haven't decided on yet) is am2+ and/or am3 shouldn't the cpu & the memory both use all their major resources?

I think the guy means that the CPU will be quite useless if you will use a low memory. (Not sure. Hehehe)

Something like this: You have a 2.80GHz dual-core CPU for example, but you only have 512MB DDR2 533

He's full of it...
If your MBoard supports it then it will run with either...

Agreed with patio.  Of course, if you get a motherboard supporting ddr3... then... well it wont fit.  800mhz ram should be good, unless you want to overclock then get 1066
