Title: PC will not boot up ????
Post by: doccer1967 on March 21, 2009, 11:20:42 AM
My desktop pc will not boot up.  It runs through the boot sequence, ten gets to the windos logo then screen goes blank.  I have tried to press F8 which get me to several options ie. safeboot but the thing just hangs and I cannot use the arrow keys to select an option.  Any help would be really appreciated.

OS is vista

What happened prior to this ?
Have you tries a PS2 (old style round plug ) keyboard ?
Do you have a Vista DVD ?

If you cant get it working try formating the hard drive and re-installing vista. Or try using a restore disk if you have one or the repair feature if you have an actual copy of vista.

If you format you will lose all your info...
Vista Repair Install (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html)
You may need to borrow or buy a PS2 keyboard...everyone should have one for emergencies like this.
Or you could check to see if Legacy USB devices are enabled in the BIOS.
