I have a u3 4 gb that was unpluged forcefully. Theres stuff that I want off of it. Is it possible to try an recover the files?
-
Many recovery programs work for Flash memory.
http://www.recuva.com/
After an action like accidental disconnect if you lost data, its always good to reformat as well.
-
If the files have been corrupted while unplugging the drive, there may be no way to get them back.
-
Its not lighting up so I mite have luck with this. It did fix my other one. But I forget how I did it.
-
Try it in another computer, that was the resolution to a similar problem I had once.
-
I tried an it still not working.
-
It probably has the same problem in your other topic.
Have you been safely removing the drives or just pulling them out?
-
Yeah, do you think I'm that insucre with data? was unpluged forcefully, mean it was pulled out.
-
If you just unplug the flash drive, you have probably damaged it now....same as the other one.
There is a reason why you have a 'Remove Safely' feature.

This isn't the first time?

I dont think or recall, that mite have just failed. I got a formater an it fixed it but I dont remember since that was a while back what it was.
-
Try this HP Formatting tool:
http://files.filefront.com/SP27608exe/;9868201;/fileinfo.html
(you will loose all data)
-
Thats good an okay, I think thats what I had used to do it. One Question, will it get rid of my u3 stuff I dont recall.
-
Oh wait, U3. Hold on a sec.
-
I couldn't find anything....
Try it and see what happens.
-
Yeah, ;) thats why it says that in the top. It should work, thanks that saves me alot of time. I want to make this for my class work an need it to be a large drive.
-
It didnt work for ether of the two, but it was something like that.
-
Something like what?
-
Something simular to that formater that I used to have gottin my other one working.
-
If you don't want U3, you could try their uninstall utility which will format the drive.
Do you want to do this? (you cannot get U3 back after this)
-
Any way to do it an keep the u3? I kind of use it as some incase of scanning needed. Such as if theres no antivirus an such.
-
I suggest trying out the other USB and see if formatting works or not.
Did you know you can run portable programs without U3?
-
I've personally found that U3 is an incredibly inconvenient piece of software, especially in the work/school environment where the computers want permission to run such a program. (Lucky me, I know the Administration password for the school computers... I made note of the new one they are going to use this year as well...)
Also, the "password" software is just the worst of it... since if you go on a computer without the right permissions, you cant access your data.
Not to mention, it does make the "loading" of the drive slower, requiring more advanced device loading, etc.
-
working it out to send it to them the data isnt important any more. However I recall a formatter of some sort it got my other one working. ;)

I went to the main site here http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1354 think that this is what I used. I was googling it wrong so maybe I can get it working.
