Title: printer problem
Post by: goon on October 21, 2006, 08:18:16 PM
I have changed printer cartridges several times and still I can only print in Magenta and Black. I am using a HP720C. Is it possible that the problem is directly in my printer?

Or clogged print heads. Did you check the HP site for help?

I have soaked the printer heads in cleaner and can get the other colors to show when I "milk" it but it continues to print in Magenta and Black only.

I have a 693C, but it is pretty old. How old is your printer and has it had a lot of use? Periods of inactivity prior to this or sitting around with no ink cartridge?

My printer is pretty old, too and has been sitting around for 3 years with original ink cartridges installed.

Are you offering to do a post mortem, Raptor?

It may not have died of natural causes.

You might want your computer to clean the printer heads, (or you could do that yourself)
I think you go Start> Control Panel (or printers, if you dont see Printers, then you will find it in control panel) and then you find the printer thats not working. Right click and select Clean Heads if its there, or click properties if its not. In Properties window, see if you can find clean heads anywhere.

Also; make sure that the printer model and whatnot is correct.

It's been pronounced dead...

Awaiting the Coroner's report however.

The coroner concluded death by misadventure.  Initially the evidence was pointing towards wilful neglect, but it transpired that without the owner's knowledge, the printer had been visiting red light districts and became not only diseased but also critically chromatically confused as a direct result.

I preferred being an Egghead.  The perks were better.

Perhaps I should pull a Mac.

I have decided that being a guru is okay.  I get to walk around in a flowing robe, looking vaguely stoned, chanting "Om" whenever anyone asks me a difficult question.
