I have an idea. You should post a little more information about the machine, what happened prior to this, and try an external monitor on it.

Sorry

It is a Model psm42u, with 512 ram and intel processor. Running windows xp. It seemed to start after downloading a word program, I think it was called G4 or something. I removed that software and did a restart and the line was gone. Now two days later it is back. It appears on this forum to be a thin black line dead center of the screen running horizontaley.

Thanks

OK Guys, I am not computer savey. Where do I get an externa monitor to plug in to external moniter socket ?

1. At a store. That's a S-T-O-R-E.
2. Borrow one from a friend.
3. Take the laptop round to a friends house and plug it into his or her monitor.
4. Take it to school or work and plug it into a monitor you find there.
4. Take the computer to a repair S-T-O-R-E and pay them some M-O-N-E-Y and they will try it out for you and tell you how much it will cost to fix.

Monitors look like this
