Title: need help
Post by: JsCjazmin on January 16, 2006, 11:02:35 AM
I am concerned about my teenaged son that is playing a lot of computer games and is online more that I would like him to be. I have browsed about in his "my computer" area and found some serious pornographic material. He claims that he doesn't know how it got there and that sometimes when downloading something else, this stuff gets in too. I obviously know nothing about computers. I feel as his parent that I must offer some protection to him...this is, as I have said, serious pornography. Is he handing me bull?
Thanks for your reply.

Of course it's bull.
The most popular word searched for in Google is 'sex', would you want him to be out of step with society?
Get Ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com and show him how to use it.
Anything left on the computer after running ccleaner is intentional.
You could add the offending websites to your hosts file and loop them back to 127.0.0.1, that will fix him.

Take his computer away from him and give him a book :)

Definitely time for me to play hardball. I'll begin with a conversation and then, if I have to, I will toss the computer. (Not an idle threat!) I personally love the book idea! I have many good books in the house that I enjoy....perhaps he will too.

He's guilty and probably pretty normal for saying he doesn't know how it got there. Do you personally get a lot of sexually explicit pictures from normal computer activity? Of course not.

Fed does, but he goes to those sites!  :o :o :o :o :o :o

You may want to look here also. Maybe you two should talk....

LOL ...... How many times have we heard that comment before ........ I didnt do anything ..........( Ya right ) ........
I would suggest to your son , that as a result of finding "STUFF" on the machine that you dont approve of ..... His access to the pc will be controlled ..... If His pc is in his room ...move it out into another area , one that can easily be monitored.
Tell him that ....you are giving him the benefit of the doubt this time .......but .....you have installed a program which will track every keystroke he makes .......and if you find any more ......the pc is gone.....
You could also set up a user account for him on his computer . You would be the system administrator ........ Then you could set the security and access features up as you see fit and he would be unable to change them.
It might also be worth passing on to your son that you didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

Good luck .......

Or send him here to try to persuade us! We'll be gentle with him.

You might want to talk with this person also:

We agree that books are good, and no, not to hit him with!  ;)
