was a virus victim yesterday. My laptop did a Vista self scan. Came up with a site of
https:\\www.system-fix.com/secure/payments
asked for credit card information.
Gave two options of
System Fix - Light Edition USD 74.95
and
System Fix - Professional Edition USD 84.50
First off, is this a ligitimate site, before I give credit card information, and if so, what is the difference between the two options?
Go with this, or call Geek Squad?
any suggestions from this in the know?
Incidentally I have Vista, with Trend Micro. Something got past it...
Thanks in advance.

Seems bogus to me. Viruses are notorious for trying to scam gullible people into providing personal information or re-directing you to sites that are harmful (very similar to SPAM or junk email). They will provide false security warnings, direct you to hacked sites to get your payment information, and try and make you scared into taking action immediately.
If you are not familiar with how to repair the virus, I would suggest calling Geek Squad or someone with experience in doing so. Your best bet right now would be to unplug your internet connection so no information is stolen through the line and no future viruses come in. I would try booting in safe mode and run a virus scan with Trend Micro - that may catch something.
There are several programs that can be run, such as malware bytes and ad-aware, though you'd also want to be sure what you are doing. Quite often you may have detected a virus and cleared it, only to find out more are lurking in your system that you cannot see.

everything I'm reading online tells me it's a scam. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.
1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.
5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.
