Title: Black Screen or constant sleep ?????

My brother built the computer.. Then one day after a year or so I turned the computer on and the screen was just black. I bought a new video card and it seems like the same sh*t. The monitor will turn on then say going to sleep... like my computer is in constant sleep or something .. very weird ???
