Title: install xp
Post by: harley70 on October 26, 2005, 03:58:55 PM
Just installed xp pro and it installed OK. But now I can only start it in safe mode. When I start in safe it gives me a big list of drivers before it starts but I don't know what that means. How can I get it to boot normally?
Disk was formatted before install.

Did it go through the setup process ok? Name, Date, Time etc and then load to the desktop?

Have you installed anything else since installing XP?

The drivers are the device and system drivers that XP needs to run safe mode
multi(0)disk(0) etc.....

Try choosing Last Known Good Configuration instead.

The list usually ends at mup.sys and if you have a problem driver after that point then the system will stop loading.

Disconnect ALL peripheral devices leaving just the monitor, keyboard and mouse wired up and try starting again.

Then tell us the result.

Did you full format the drive or quick format it?

Quick formatting is not suitable as a means of drive preparation.
