Title: Tablet that can run Excel with macros
Post by: dbzcpa on January 08, 2014, 01:15:31 PM
I’m looking to buy a tablet that will run Microsoft Excel with macros.  All I need it for is to print invoices (the invoices are designed using macros).  It should be as small as possible (no bigger than 8” if possible).  I am not particular about anything else (brand name, look, system, etc).  Any ideas?

It will have to be a tablet that runs Windows 8. So forget either Android or Apple. And yes, Microsoft has its own Surface  tablet, which is not doing so well.
I have no experience with Windows 8 tablets. I believe that Excel macros are not compatible with other spreadsheet programs. So nit has to be Excel.
For what it is worth, here is a bit  about current Windows 8 tablets.

Hope that is of some help.  :)

One of the tablets in that article is the Dell Venue 8 Pro.  It might be a very good choice for you since it comes with the 2013 version of Home and Student Office, which includes Excel.  Newegg.com is currently selling it for $290.  See http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834300179

I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro and can verify that it comes with the full version of Excel 2013 and can run macros.  I'd recommend getting the 64G model instead of the 32G since, as shipped, the 32G model has very little free space on the C: drive.
