Title: CD-ROM drive problem
Post by: mrmaddy on February 22, 2007, 02:49:44 AM
My CD-ROm drive won't read any CD's.
I keep getting error messages at the Event viewer that say :"The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1, did not respond within the timeout period." or
"The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block."
Do I have to check the cables or is it a problem with the CD-ROM?

What happened prior to this? How old is the drive? There is a reason they have a 1 yr. warranty or less.  ;)

I think I have it for more than 1,5 years and the warranty is over.
What do you mean by :"What happened prior to this?"?

I think my PC is virused ,cause it started to work worse and my antivirus hasn't been updated for a long time.I'll install a new one with full updates.I haven't been playing inside the case lately ,so there shouldn't be any problems in there.
I'll try to do what was sugested on that link you gave me .Thx for it.I haven't thought searching the error on google.
Can there be some other problems with the cd-rom?
