Hi,
Over the last couple of months when i switch my PC off or restart it gives that annoying black screen message.
How do i get rid of this as it DOES boots up if i leave it switched off for 5 minutes?
My OS is XP
Many thanks

Your OS is not the issue. What are the details about the hardware?

Do you mean this:
amd sampron 2400+
1.6ghz
224mb of ram.

I was thinking more in terms of motherboard make and model, age of machine, what happened prior to this, other issues, etc.

I think its a Asrock K7S41GX motherboard.
The machine is only about 2 years old.
I remember downloading a game and i tried to install it but i didn't have direct x device/couldn't create 3d device so i tried to create one but it didn't work since my graphics card is built in and not up to it.
I do remember the game was unzipping files into what looks like a semi black screen. Thats when i was roughly getting this problem.

Still not working but i couldn't get the diskette to boot up.
I opened it up and made sure i was earthed and i checked all the connections cos my floppy disc wasn't working either. I also removed the button battery on the MOBO cos i heard that sets it back to default settings.
I put it back together and it still showed the same messeage. :'(

You need to reset your BIOS,or try an AGP/slot add-on graphics card. :-?

How do i reset my bios?
I thought removing the button battery did that anyway?
