Title: HP Envy17 photo storage issue
Post by: kaymartian on February 17, 2014, 05:00:05 PM
I have an HP Envy17.  Every time I save a photo to my pictures folder it saves it in my video folder as well as my you cam folder.  Same if I delete it.  It will delete it in all three folders.  I don't need my photos saved in 3 places.  it is eating up my hard drive space.  How can I avoid this?

Welcome to Computerhope :)

Do you refer to Photoshop? Perhaps more information is needed.

When I save a photo in the pictures folder that was already set up on the computer when I got it it is automatically saved in three places.  Is there somewhere in settings I can go an change this so it only saves in one folder?

Has your computer always behaved this way or did this behavior start after you installed certain software?  Do you have photo editors installed that were not on your computer when it was new?  If so, what software is it?

You did not answer this question.

Just to add to your 2nd post, what do you mean set up? Where is this picture(s) source or originated?

jason, I believe he means the standard Pictures folder that in part of all Windows installations, along with Documents, Music, and Videos.  But, you raised a point that is worth questioning for clarification.

Try this...create a new folder...name it as you wish.
Then save a photo...when the save window opens point it to the new folder and hit Save...
If it works it'll now be the default save location...although the others may come up a few times...
