Hi,
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section but I am not sure how is should be categorised.
The problem is with a Desktop PC that will not boot into Windows but instead freezes on a screen asking the user to 'Please press DEL to enter EFI BIOS setting' ( to which nothing happens when DEL is pressed).
I can't give any other information with regards to the PCs spec etc as I can't get access to any screens with this info.
I have attached a screen shot of the problem.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks.
DG

What led up to this? What is the last thing that happened before the problem arose?
-
Nothing. It was fine the day before and then when I turned it on for the first time that day, it happened.
-
Did you tried to press "F8" to try to enter Safe Mode?
-
Yes, tried pressing all Function keys, ESC. Keys

Try clearing the CMOS then inserting a bootable media. If that dont work, strip it down to the MB,CPU and one memory stick ..
-
Hi,
Sorry but I'm not sure what you mean.
Can you explain was a CMOS is and the other things you mentioned.
Thanks

He shouldnt be advising...so ignore it.
At boot up on the bottom of the screen it will state whats needed for BIOS...sometimes F10 or delete etc...
Once you see it rebooot and hit those keys to enter BIOS...

The only screen that comes up when the PC is turned on is the same as the screenshot I sent . It only asks for the DEL key to be pressed and then nothing happens. I've tried changing the keyboard but that doesn't make a difference. No other keys seem to work either. It's bizarre. I've never seen this before !

If you are using a usb connected keyboard, try a ps2 connection.
-
Start tapping Delete key rite after powerup...
-
Yep, done that ! Nothing happens
-
Does anyone else have any idea how to resolve this issue.
I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks

Can anyone shed some light on this problem.?
-
Have you tried a ps2 keyboard?

Hi dgreen
There is many things which cause the problem you are experiencing.
Could we have the component details or the model.
Perhaps if you could post some more pictures of the inside of the computer?.
Thank you
