Title: Monitor resolution, Windows 98SE to 2000 Pro
Post by: noslenlc on January 02, 2005, 10:34:19 PM
Dell Inspiron 3500 notebook; 64mb RAM.

I removed (format c:/s) WIN 98SE & installed 2000 Pro;  all seems fine so far, but the monitor resolution  is poor. Settings  are limited to 16 colors, area range only 640x480 or  800x600. I've tried a few options in "Visual Effects", and that was some help but still a below-average resolution. I'm guessing that I need a new driver?  The monitor is a Magicgraph 256, NeoMagic Corp.

Help, Anybody??

You need to install your video card drivers.

Good point... Also, update those drivers once you install them.... This will better prevent you from future damage...  ;)

Sounds good to me;I've ID'd some download drivers on Dell's website that are compatible with the Insp 3500 & Win 2000 Pro.  I'll install one that fits & hope it resolves the issue.

You folks are great, thanks for the quicky replies.
