I upgraded to windows 7 yesterday and all was going well untill i started to play videos and games. My sound will work for small sounds that come with the computer. These work fine untill i play a youtube video or game, and then the sound will work fine for a few seconds then cut of completly. On youtube videos the sound will play for a few seconds and cuts of and if i pause the video and play it again it starts playing at a super speed. The only fix for this is to unplug then replug the the headphones into the jack. I am pluging the headphones into my keyboard btw, called the G110 gaming keyboard, which is PnP device. I also have an onboard realtek audio device, but since installing 7 it isnt even detected. I also have an audio device built into my video card, windows does detect this one, but i cannot plug in any speakers into the front or back because it won't register them now for some reason. I've already tried updating all the listed drivers, but that didnt work.

Do you have any added sound device other than the onboard being not detected? If there is no other sound device installed and recognized, then the onboard should be the one to be used. Have you check for the status on your Device/Driver Manager on any marks. Or went to the support site and installed all drivers after the upgrade?

To know more about what is really installed on your PC. Just follow the instruction and post the Log on your next post.

After upgrading did you install all drivers starting with the chipset driver (followed by drivers for your video and sound cards)?

Is your computer fully Windows 7 ready?
What's the brand a model of it?

My computer was fully compatible when I ran the scan, but I think that the motherboard isn't being recognized now. When I went to Hp to download motherboard updates for windows 7 ill that was available was lite scribe. The model is hp pavailion a1487c. I have also been told that model has no updates for it, and that person was correct.

When I go here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=1847041#N148 there is Win 7 listed in a drop-down menu, but there are no drivers for it at all.
There are drivers for Vista and XP.
Where did you install drivers from?

I did exactly what you did a few hours ago, and came up with the same results.
-
Where did you install drivers from?
Did you just accept drivers, which were installed by Windows 7?
-
I'm not sure. When I installed widnows 7 I didn't do the upgrade I just had to do a complete uninstall of XP to windows 7 and i just let it take over from their. Windows 7 did update what it could like the video card and my keyboard and mouse, but other than that i don't know.
-
I think It's just about time for me to get a new computer anyways, so thanks for everyones help. If anyone finds a solution I'd still like to know, because this one I will give to my dad if i can get the sound working.
-
That may be your problem.
Normally Windows 7 DVD will provide most drivers, but if some device doesn't work, the you go to your computer manufacturer site to download missing drivers.
Windows 7 installs its own generic drivers, which may, or may not work.
In your case, HP site is of no help, since there are no drivers for Windows 7.
As Allan mentioned before, the most important is a chipset driver, on which many other drivers (like ethernet, audio, etc.) depend.
If the audio is the only device, which doesn't work properly, you have couple of options.
You can try to find out model of your motherboard and see, if there are any Win 7 drivers available, or buy a separate sound card.
I can see from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00590499&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=4063&product=1847041&sw_lang=, you have ASUS P5LP-LE motherboard.
I went to Asus site: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us, but I can't see your specific motherboard model.
We may need more info.
Download System Information for Windows: http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html to your Desktop.
Get SIW Standalone (English-Only).
Double click on siw.exe to run the program.
Go File>Create Report File>HTML
Save the file to known location.
Zip the file, and attach it to your next reply.

I'll check on you tomorrow...bed time :)

yes I did install all the drivers I could find.
I don't know what that means. Did you install the chipset driver? What other drivers did you install? And from where?
-
Also, if something doesn't have windows 7 drivers you can often use windows Vista drivers instead, because they are usuallyquite similar.
-
You have Intel i945P Revision A1 chipset and here is your chipset driver: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19596&ProdId=2115&lang=eng
Install it and we'll see what happens.

sadly none of those solutions worked :'( but here is a picture of my sound devices if that helps. Now that first device is hooked up and its my keyboard that i am playing sound through, but it cuts of a few seconds into any game or video, song etc. The other sound device is integrated in my graphics card, I could never get that one working. The one i was using before was the reltec, but it is not listed still.

I don't know what that means. Did you install the chipset driver? What other drivers did you install? And from where?
It means I'm cluless and don't know the differnce between chipset drivers and other drivers. I think though that all the info is listed in the file i subbmited above your post.

When I downloaded that update for windows vista like someone advised, it gave me an error.
-
Do you have any errors in Device Manager?
-
I got this in my email notification:
Broni your solution did acutaly work to a certain extent. My sound from games is working fine now, however, youtube videos, and music is not.
but I don't see it here.
Hmmm....
-
I got this in my email notification:but I don't see it here.
Hmmm....
That's because I modified the message. It was working for a short amount of time and then it stoped working again. This is what it did before and still does, with the PnP keyboard jack. I thought it was working because the sound lasted a little longer than it did before, but it did quit on me 30 seconds into the game. The other jacks don't work at all still.
-
Do you have any errors in Device Manager?
Windows hasn't detected any errors, and says nothing is wrong, all that is going on is that reltek isnt listed at all, and the ATI sound card just doesn't work at all.
-
I suggest, you spend 15 bucks for a standalone sound card.
Since HP doesn't provide any drivers for Win 7, that would be the easiest solution.

yeah thanks for the help Broni, I think ill just have to do that or revert it back to xp.
-
Well, if everything else works fine, but sound, I'd stay with 7...
-
Yeah I do like 7 much more, and it is considerbly faster.
