Title: Seagate 1tb external hard drive
Post by: pennygar on July 28, 2010, 05:10:25 PM
I need to open up the case of a Seagate 1tb external hard drive to access the drives that were damaged when someone plugged in the wrong power supply.  The person has a new one but really needs the data off this one, does anyone know how to open up the case?

Can't give you info on opening the case but  This (http://www.dtidata.com/resourcecenter/2007/04/23/how-to-slave-hard-drive/)  us the best method to retrieve your data...

These Seagates are not designed to be user-opened. The case is glued and you will need to destroy it. Anyhow, if the electronics are damaged by incorrect voltage or polarity you will probably find a dead drive in there.
