what do you do if it asks for password or username?
-
You have to get a username and password.
-
Exactly, just ask for the wifi password wherever you are, e.g. in a cafe.

This list is now rather old, but might help some.

With that in mind, we've decided to compile a list of all the different chains that offer free Wi-Fi. If you're interested in speed, McDonald's is the most consistent of the bunch, but Best Buy isn't far behind. Nearly all of these just require you to agree to a terms of service, but you won't need a password. We'll keep updating this list as we find more options, so be sure keep an eye on it (and if you know of any we missed, let us know in the comments below). Don't forget to stay safe on those public networks, either

Public wifis are very unsafe networks. It contains hackers, snoopers and viruses. If you are gonna use it, I would suggest taking precautionary measures to secure yourselves. Here is a link (https://www.purevpn.com/blog/how-to-stay-safe-using-a-public-wifi/) to a good article with helpful tips to protect yourself.
