Title: Computer Freezing
Post by: Chief95 on December 14, 2008, 01:41:03 PM
Lately my computer has been freezing, what ever I have up on the screen is still visible, but cursor disappears and and even my Alt-Ctrl-Delete will not work.  After I shut down my computer  and it restarts  normally.
There is not anything in particular that I am working on when it decides to shut down, It is very random!
Any ideas?

Thanks All in Advance,

Chief

the problem may be that your computer is infected with some sort of virus.  Shutting down unexpectedly is not a good sign.  you should get your computer protected, scanned, and cleaned.

if worst comes to worst
back up your data files and programs and reformat your computer.

Sorry, but please ignore that advice Chief95.

We need more information.

What Operating System is this?

When did the problem start?

Any recent downloads/installs/hardware changes/ect...

Any error messages?

Why do people think reformatting is the only option? IT ISN'T

Thanks Carbon,
I am running XP home edition, problem started about a week ago. No new downloads or any changes to my hardware.
That is why I think it is so strange.
I have the regular security, anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall. I have also manually scanned for spy-ware an viruses. Nothing found.
