Greetings
My XP Install (from a disc with unknown source) becomes unbootable i.e. reaches the XP splash screen and reboots when I create a partition. I create the partitions using GParted in Ubuntu Linux. All advices, comments are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

What do you mean your disc is from an unknown source?
And why are you using Gparted to create the partitions? Why not use Windows setup?

Greetings
Thanks for reply.
Booting with that disc just formats the hard-drive, creates a partition of 60.xx MB (cant be resized) and the rest space becomes unusable since creating a partition makes the OS unbootable.
I dont have another windows disc.

Ralph, is this a burned or a pressed disk you are using?

Like I said, what do you mean your disc is from an unknown source? Is it a genuine Windows CD (shiny with holograms on the surface or a manufacturer supplied restoration disc)?

Hello
It is a copied disc, I guess. I don't remember getting it but I have two brothers and cant ask them now.

Hello
It is a copied disc, I guess.
Well, the only advice you're going to get from now on is buy a legal Windows disc.
