a while ago I reformatted mt toshiba laptop and now it won't boot up...it goes into the screen where I can boot up in 3 different safe modes or start windows normally. When I chose one of the safe modes a white bar goes across the bottom then a bunch of words starts to load down at the bottom. after a while it restarts itself and does the same thing over and over again. help please >.<
-
Normal Mode too?
You did format, and then what?
-
I tried it all normal and safe
after I reformatted it I tried to run my laptop and that happened
-
Now, wait a sec.
You did format with what?
Then after formatting, you have to install some OS. What about it?
-
the OS was and still is windows xp pro
-
Man, it's gonna take a while to find out what happened....
1. You did format. With what? Windows CD?
2. You installed Windows XP, right?
3. Windows installation has finished, right?
Was it like that, or....?
What happened then?
You have to remember, we're not there.
-

yes it was a windows cd
2. You installed Windows XP, right?
yes
3. Windows installation has finished, right?
yes

as I said at the beginning it went to the safe mode
-
Right after installing Windows, and FIRST restart?
Why was the hard drive formatted, to start with?
-
I had a game on it that I couldn't get it off I tried everything so I just reformatted it
and yes Right after installing Windows, and FIRST restart
-
Botched install? That's what I'd go after, first. Try to reinstall one more time.
...or...
start from the other end:
- Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
There is no Toshiba listed (of course, having in mind the quality of their tech support), but there is a good chance Seagate tool may work
- Run memtest: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html
-
ok I'll try both thank you ^^
-
Sure thing :)
-
didn't work :(
-
If you'd be so kind to post maybe more than two words, please....
I'm not there.
-
ok I reformatted it again and it did the same thing but something different happened this time when I was installing windows a pop up came up and it said something about my battery not being able to install. I don't know the exact message because like an idiot I forgot to write it down.
-
So, you're getting same problem as in your first post?
If so, go for two other options listed in my reply #9.
-
I ran the disk the memtest and it said no errors were found after that I restarted the laptop and a while bar came up and started to load after the bar loaded the computer restarted again and continues to do the same thing
-
Hard drive test time.
-
._. how?

Ha ;D
One note, though. There is no Toshiba test tool. Run Seagate tool.
-
"error detected a non seagate driver it is suggested that you contact the maker of your disc drive for more information."
-
Try Hitachi tool.
-
Hitachi won't download onto a disk
-
What do you mean by that?
-
everytime I try to burn Hitachi into a it tells me to unzip it first then when I try to unzip it says "jzip does not support the file format of the file your trying to open."
-
Yes, you have to unzip the file first.
What is the extension of the zipped file, you downloaded?
Maybe your program doesn't support it.
Try 7-zip: http://www.7-zip.org/
