Title: batch file proplems
Post by: puolakanaho on January 27, 2012, 12:18:52 PM
hey i recently bought a steam game called total war 2 and the game always froze when i tried to play it so i contacted steam support who told me that i propapiply needed to install some files.so they gave me a punch of guides to files i had to download things were going smooth and stuff until i suddenly came across a file namened "clean_vcredist"

it is a batch file and as hard as i whit my insignificant skills tried to install it (or even open it) i failed miserably.after that i searched through all of youtube and google in order to find help but most videos and guides were only people speaking on how to create a new batch(or bat as they called it)file or talking about all the wonderfull things it can do.

so i finaly found this place created account and then i spent few minutes searching for a thread that matched my proplem.in vain....

and so i decided to create a new thread and stuff....

i use a brand new windows 7 the "clean_vcredit" file is in the "computer-> c program-> program files(86)-> steam -> steamapps-> common-> total war shogun 2 -> redist

my computer suggested that the file is in(bad translation) "wrong place" and i need to move it to a correct place.but i am too afraid to move it since i know nothing of bat(batch) files....

Seemed to be a rather easy Google search. Not too much comes up when you search for that filename.

How do you know it isn't running. It is a batch file. It could run so fast all you will see is a flash of the cmd window and it will be gone.

Did you do as instructed in the link I provided.
Uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable.
Run the batch file: clean_vcredist.bat
then you need to reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ redistribute packages again.
vcredist_x86.exe
vcredist_x86_90.exe
vcredist_x86-sp1.exe
Then reboot.

Your game is not going to run at all if you don't have the Visual C++ packages installed.

yes i did all that i will try it one more time since that looks different from what i did(even thou i recall doing it like that)

i just always have to force shut down the computer everytime it freezes so i dont want to break it that way and so dont want to test it out again yet....
